Last night, Moana returned to London and soared to new heights in celebration of ‘Moana 2’ as Dwayne Johnson (the voice of Maui), Auliʻi Cravalho (voice of Moana) and filmmakers Jason Hand, Dana Ledoux Miller & Christina Chen, songwriters Abigail Barlow & Emily Bear joined fans post-UK premiere for a special evening with a special Moana 2 drone show.
The drone show followed with a magical display of Moana iconography including Moana’s oar & Maui’s magical hook as well as beloved sidekicks HeiHei and Pua. Lighting up the London night sky, the show was choreographed to three tracks from the all-new film soundtrack including Can I Get A Chee Hoo?, Beyond, and We’re Back. The full soundtrack is available now.
Ahead of the drone show, Dwayne Johnson surprised a group of children opposite the O2. Meanwhile, Moana herself, Auliʻi Cravalho, joined filmmakers, songwriters and special guests on a boat experience like no other.
Guests included UK press, content creators & members of Ngāti Rānana London Māori Club and Marama Alliance UK. Once on board, attendees were welcomed to a Moana 2 themed experience as they journeyed down the River Thames where the London School of Hula and ‘Ori performed traditional dances to guests, bringing the world of Oceania to the shores of London. Songwriters, Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear performed three new tracks – Beyond, Get Lost and Can I Get A Chee Hoo?

It baffles me just how they manage to co-ordinate a show like this. The sheer creativity and technology used to execute such a masterpiece as this really is a sight to behold.
For a brief moment in time we had the magic of a Disneyland show or a Disney Cruise Line show right here in London and that’s a special treat for all of those who are lucky enough to see it!
Walt Disney Animation Studios’ epic animated musical Moana 2 reunites Moana (voice of Auli‘i Cravalho) and Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson) three years later for an expansive new voyage alongside a crew of unlikely seafarers.
After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced.
The voice cast also includes Rachel House, Temuera Morrison, Nicole Scherzinger, Hualālai Chung, David Fane, Rose Matafeo, Awhimai Fraser, Gerald Ramsey, and Khaleesi Lambert-Tsuda, who lends her voice to Moana’s adoring and adorable little sister, Simea.
Directed by David Derrick Jr., Jason Hand and Dana Ledoux Miller, and produced by Christina Chen and Yvett Merino, Moana 2 features music by Grammy® winners Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, Grammy nominee Opetaia Foa‘i, and three-time Grammy winner Mark Mancina. Jared Bush and Miller are writing the film, which is executive produced by Jennifer Lee, Bush and Johnson.
Moana 2 opens in cinemas on Nov. 29, 2024.
