All Future James Bond Films HALTED After Amazon Feud

It seems as though all future James Bond films are on hold indefinitely as there seems to have been an ongoing issue between Amazon and the producer of the 007 series The Wall Street Journal reports.

Amazon who owns MGM (the studio who makes the Bond films) have reportedly come to blows with Barbara Broccoli who is the daughter of the original Bond producer Albert R. Broccoli.

Broccoli who is now 64 reportedly told friends that Amazon are ‘F****** idiots’ and doesn’t feel Amazon is a good fit for the super-spy.

Whilst this argument seems ongoing between the two it’s hard to ignore the latter comment as Bond seems far too broad and mass-appealing of a franchise to be pigeonholed onto a streaming platform.

Having back catalogues on streaming platforms makes perfect sense but debuting a Bond film on a streaming platform, however, wouldn’t be wise.

Bond deserves big cinematic releases, how films are supposed to be seen and there’s no better or bigger than Bond!

Plenty of rumours were reported by WSJ including a sentence that came from an Amazon boss referring to the franchise as ‘content’ which wasn’t taken too kindly by the producers.

The future of the franchise seems in murky waters moving forward but for me, it has to be done right. Casting will be a very difficult choice and how the last film ended will also pose an issue as it completely shuffles the entire timeline of Bond as we know it.

The next Bond film will most likely reinvent the character in some way but will it hit the same?

For me, I’d have ended it with No Time To Die and not made any more films but sadly that’s just not the world we live in anymore and with this stalemate with Amazon it does look as though all Bond films going forward are halted until there is a change of heart somewhere.

Watch this space!
