When Shrek is one of the best animations we’ve ever seen you expect a certain standard but sadly I feel this particular teaser trailer released today is going to cause quite a stir because they’ve changed how everyone looks!
Yes, it’s great we have another Shrek movie and even better that Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz and Eddie Murphy all return to voice Shrek, Fiona and Donkey along with Zendaya added to the cast as Shrek and Fiona’s daughter but look at them!
I can’t quite wrap my head around the decision to change up how the film looks compared to the films of old and whilst the animation does look more modern it also looks very out of place compared to the past few instalments.
The particular film is slated for a December 23rd, 2026 release and it’ll be the first Shrek release since 2010’s Shrek Forever After.
No plot details have been revealed but I don’t think it matters at this point when this trailer has been online 60 minutes and thousands of messages every minute are flooding socials complaining about how it looks and rightly so.
Sadly, with the Sonic live-action movie, the character could easily be changed visually as it was added into a real-world setting but sadly Shrek can’t be changed without altering the entire film.
The second Shrek starts referencing the many memes that have included him over the years I feel as though this film is heading in a strange direction and my nostalgic self can’t quite handle the level of change I’m seeing all in a short space of time.
I understand keeping up with the times but this is something that should be done with new animations without taking a classic animation style we’ve all fallen in love with and updating it to this photorealistic version. It just feels, off.
The tagline reads – Far Far Away’s Finest are coming.
Check out the first teaser trailer below and see what you think. This is certainly going to take some time to get used to!
