Aimee Lou Wood “Not Hating” On Sarah Sherman’s ‘SNL’ Impression But “Hating On The Concept”: “I Am Not Thin-Skinned”

Aimee Lou Wood is clearing up why she had a problem with Saturday Night Live‘s The White Lotus parody, which had nothing to do with Sarah Sherman.

After initially calling out the NBC late-night sketch show for Sherman’s “mean and unfunny” impression of her, Wood clarified why the parody didn’t work.

“Last thing I’ll say on the matter. I am not thin-skinned. I actually love being taken the piss out of when it’s clever and in good spirits. But the joke was about fluoride. I have big gap teeth not bad teeth,” Wood posted on her Instagram Stories.

She continued, “I don’t mind caricature — I understand that’s what SNL is. But the rest of the skit was punching up and I/Chelsea was the only one punched down on… Okay end of.”

In a follow-up post she added, “Actually one last thing. Not [Sarah Sherman’s] fault [and] not hating on her, hating on the concept.”

Wood then shared another post where she screenshotted a quote that “sums up my view.”

“It was a sharp and funny skit until it suddenly took a screeching turn into 1970’s misogyny,” read the quote Wood shared.

On Saturday night, SNL aired a parody of The White Lotus, calling it The White POTUS. In it, they took swipes at the Trump family and poked fun at Wood’s character Chelsea with Sherman in a pair of buck teeth. The impression came up after Wood expressed that she was exhausted talking about her teeth.
