It looks like we’re getting a Peter Pan horror movie as Altitude has announced the release of Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare on DVD, Blu-ray and Digital in the UK & Ireland from April 28th.
Follow Wendy Darling as she strikes out in an attempt to rescue her brother Michael from “the clutches of the evil Peter Pan.” Along the way she meets Tinkerbell, who in this twisted version of the story will be seen taking hard drugs, convinced that it’s pixie dust.
The film comes from the producers of Winnie The Pooh: Blood & Honey and it has a nice sheen to it as displayed in the trailer for the film embedded within this article.
Simply from watching the trailer, there’s a scene involving a hatch and a young kid reminiscent of the sewer scene from IT, a few scenes later someone is floating just like in IT and there are strong hints of inspiration taken from that film and injected into this one.
Not only that but I was getting some strong Black Phone vibes with the panel van and also Terrifier vibes here and there in what looks to be a rather gory little number.
I hope they’re just winks and nods as too many films rip off classics entirely as they can’t seem to stand on their own too feet both from a narrative and cinematic aspect but angling it to Peter Pan and having a twist on the old fairytale classic is a nice touch.
Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare looks to be a fun little watch if the trailer is anything to go by and I look forward to checking it out in a few days when it releases to the world.
I’m still trying to wrap my head around why he’s a fully grown man though as the boy who never gets old is certainly looking a little…well…old?
