Station Cosmos Hotel Review: An Incredible Sci-Fi Stay

Station Cosmos Hotel Review

The Station Cosmos hotel is an out-of-this-world accommodation experience the likes I’ve never seen before as guests aboard a space station and transport themselves into their very own sci-fi movie!

Note: Futuroscope kindly offered us a free night as part of a wider press event and a hotel review was not part of the coverage requirement but I just had to put my thoughts down about this incredible nights stay!

Back in March 2022 Disney opened their very own accommodation experience which had guests living inside their very own Star Wars story but prices were astronomical and guests weren’t allowed to leave the hotel as part of the experience with only an excursion to Galaxy’s Edge being part of the story included.

It’s safe to say that despite being an incredibly immersive experience, the price tag and the restrictions attached to the hotel stay made it feel more of a trap than a getaway and as a result the hotel closed 18 months later in September 2023.

Space Station Hotel

After a $300 million loss for Disney in steps Station Cosmos who opened their experience in April 2022 a mere month after Disney opened theirs. Fast forward to June 2025 and the hotel is still operating and thriving due to low prices and convenience next to Futuroscope theme park.

Station Cosmos was Futuroscope’s first purpose-built resort hotel, evoking that stranded on Mars vibe and as you approach the hotel you are instantly immersed in your surroundings from the sandy Mars-inspired landscape to the beautifully designed hotel building itself that looks like it has been plucked straight from a sci-fi movie with Prometheus, The Martian and Interstellar vibes all rolled into one.

Station Cosmos Reception

The hotel consists of 76 rooms styled as cabins which sleep up to four guests and just wandering around the hotel there’s not a single blank wall or lack of theming anywhere to be seen.

From the space station themed corridors to the incredible Space Loop restaurant (more on that later) there’s constant immersion into the space station feel and not for one second are you trapped, you can come and go as you please.

Station Cosmos Hotel Rooms

Station Cosmos Bedroom

As you step into your room you’re greeted with a little corridor that guides you towards your bedroom. There’s a bathroom (accompanied by a classic sci-fi sliding door) to your right, a closed door leading to a toilet on your left and a separate room featuring two bunk-beds on your right also.

The bedroom consists of a floating illusion bed, a lovely little side desk and a TV that has a built-in space ship design to welcome you before turning into a hotel guide and eventually just a normal TV.

Station Cosmos TV
This themed welcome screen is such a nice touch!

A small pad is on the wall that controls everything from the lighting of the room (there are various settings) not to mention a button that controls the blinds in addition to the room temperature.

All features within the pad are designed with energy efficiency and waste reduction in mind and the thermostat even freezes when the windows are opened for energy saving but this was also a problem for us during our stay.

Bunk Beds

When we visited France was experiencing some very hot temperatures and with a thermostat that can’t be set any lower than 18 degrees in a room which features thermal blinds, we were absolutely roasting. We opened the window to let a breeze in, it didn’t work so we had to ask down at reception for a fan which they were kind enough to bring up.

The room came with a little sample of space food (freeze dried ice cream no less) and a bottle of water.

The bed was comfortable and the bunk beds were also very cosy with some incredibly soft pillows dotted around the room.

Station Cosmos Bathroom

If there were any negatives of the entire hotel room it would be the toilet which is separate from the sink and shower area, it was completely bland, no theming, no immersion, not even a little screen or space-themed element to that entire room, this was definitely the ‘we ran out of budget room’ and it shows.

Nevertheless the immersion that the rest of the room gives you is phenomenal and the hotel as a whole is somewhere you could spend an entire day and not get bored!

Bar des Pilotes

Bar des Pilotes

The bar onboard Station Cosmos is a great little hangout spot featuring every little sci-fi nerdy prop and room decoration you can think of from Star Wars helmets to a Ghostbusters proton pack it really is like a game of spot the movie prop.

It’s well lit and has a lovely outdoor patio area with a spaceship just casually parked outside and the bar features lots of futuristic little gadgets including a water tornado generator that was having a few issues and was trying to go into overdrive and soak the entire bar at every given opportunity.

Whilst going to the bar however we did encounter some rather rude staff members as we took our seats at the bar ready to order. No one said a word to us, they were making drinks and doing their thing but not once were we asked what we would like or that they’ll be with us in a moment which I thought was very rude but I just assumed they didn’t speak English as we could be clearly heard talking, in English at the bar.

After 15 minutes of absolutely no communication despite trying to speak, a French couple came in behind us went to the till and ordered a drink, safe to say this wound me up ever so slightly, so I casually stood behind them biting my lip and THEN I was served, in perfectly spoken English no less!

This was a sour taste in an otherwise rather wonderful experience.

Hospitality should accommodate all guests regardless of what country I’m from.

Space Loop Restaurant

Space Loop Restaurant

The next morning we headed down to the Space Loop restaurant which is Futuroscope’s very own rollercoaster restaurant as food comes flying down coaster track to your table.

It’s such a cool idea and as a frequent resident of Alton Towers for many years I was used to how the process worked but also worried about the type of food they were going to serve as Alton Towers serve very much microwavable slop.

Not here.

Beautiful breakfasts were whisking their way down to our table, I had some lovely pancakes, my friends had a nice mix of egg, beans and sausage and all of it had a nice little spice / twist to the traditional English breakfast.

Everyone was happy with their meals and the urge to keep ordering stuff just to see it flying down the tracks gets rather addictive!

Final Thoughts

Sean Evans Futuroscope

I absolutely loved my time at Station Cosmos, it really is one of the most immersive hotels I’ve ever been to.

Catapulted straight into your very own sci-fi story where the urge to dress up in Jedi Robes and roam the corridors is overwhelming.

Aside from the room temperature issues and slightly rude bar staff (on this occasion) I can’t really pick fault with the experience whatsoever and for those paying for the experience prices do range between £160-£200 a night but can fluctuate depending on the time of year.

As of the time of writing you can get hotel and park tickets for 194 euros (£164) which I feel is great value for money considering Alton Towers and their half-arsed range of old ‘themed’ hotels charge extortionately more for the same pleasure.

Check out the VLOG below of our arrival and stay at the Station Cosmos hotel on our theme parks / attractions spin off channel Lift Hills and Thrills. I hope you enjoy it!
