Grand Prix of Europe Movie Gets UK Cinema Release!

Grand Prix of Europe Poster

KAZOO Films this morning have announced their first theatrical release and it’s none other than Grand Prix of Europe which will be hitting UK & Irish cinemas on August 22nd as Europa Park theme park in Germany step into its first cinematic debut for park mascots Ed and Edda.

Edda is a young mouse with a big dream of becoming a racing superstar. One day her world turns upside down when she gets a chance to race in the Grand Prix of Europe, disguised as her idol, Ed. As she competes, Edda faces a series of challenges and traps on the racetrack, which test her resilience and racing skills – but this isn’t just about speed; it’s about courage, helping your friends and family and proving even the biggest dreams can come true.

The Grand Prix of Europe movie was produced by Michael Mack, Managing Partner of Europa-Park and Founder of the entertainment company MACK Magic.

It was created in the MACK Animation studios in Hanover, which are one of Europe’s leading animation studios and were responsible for cinema hits such as ‘Animals United’ and the ‘Monster Family’ franchise. The film was directed by Waldemar Fast, who has worked in the animation industry as a director and animator for over 20 years.

It’s great to see a theme park stepping out of the ordinary and delivering somethings on a world stage such as this and I can’t think of a better theme park in the world to do it than Europa Park.

With a stellar voice cast line-up including Gemma Arterton (The King’s Men), Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Game of Thrones) and Hayley Atwell (Captain America: The First Avenger) we’re certainly in good hands!

The film has been released as part of the German theme park’s 50th Anniversary and next to Disneyland Paris, Europa-Park is one of Europe’s most popular theme parks attracting more than 6 million visitors annually.

Owned by the Mack Family who started their journey in the fairground business for 8 generations built rollercoasters and sold them to theme parks around the world.

In 1975 the theme park was set up and this film marks the family’s first entry into feature film production.

What’s even better about this particular film is that part of the 50th Anniversary celebration Europa Park opened an indoor theme park ride celebrating this feature film as guests can sit in vehicles and shoot targets as they go around their own Grand Prix EdVenture.

How cool is that?!

I love when a theme park can step out of the boundary and creatively expand like this and after a UK cinematic release wasn’t on the cards originally for this title I’m ever so glad that it is now!
