The Ed Gein Story Trailer Revealed!

Monster- The Ed Gein Story

Season 3 of Ryan Murphy’s Monster series is here as Monster: The Ed Gein Story has had its first trailer released where we get our first look at Charlie Hunnam as the man who inspired Psycho and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies, Ed Gein.

Ryan Murphy’s series has focused on Jeffrey Dahmer and The Menendez brothers but now we have a man that whilst infamous to those in the know maybe isn’t as mainstream as the previous two despite his crimes being equally as disturbing.

October 3rd the series will debut on Netflix as for the majority of the trailer Ed (Charlie Hunnam) is out of focus but the anxiety builds as police officers investigate the murders and then low and behold our first reveal of Ed Gein and whilst baring a very faint resemblance to the Wisconsin born killer he looks disturbing all the same as we take a look around Ed’s apartment.

Ed Gein’s house was discovered by police to have all forms of horrors within it including lampshades made from human skin, belts made from human nipples and a whole variety of skulls and body parts not to mention a lady hanging upside down on his property where the torso was dressed out like a deer.

Gein was a serial killer, grave robber and an overall nutcase. Living as a recluse in 1950’s Wisconsin Gein lived on a farm which hid all of his skeletons (quite literally). Obsessed with his mother and driven by isolation Gein’s crimes would haunt Hollywood for decades and inspire countless movies. His crimes influenced a genre and became a blueprint for modern horror

The crime scene files make for some grim reading and all will be explored in the upcoming Netflix show.

Charlie Hunnam said to prepare for the role he read every book that’s been written on Ed Gein and didn’t find many of them useful but he gained access to rare footage of the killer and from these recordings (made two days after he was arrested) he extracted a persona from the 70 minute interview with him in custody.

Early thoughts on this series ahead of its release hint that this particular season of Monster may just be the best one yet.

I can’t wait to check it out, the series started off on such a strong note with Dahmer and whilst it’s still my favourite season 2 was such a wonderfully acted and depicted piece.

Ed Gein is one killer who I don’t know as much about so my curiosity is certainly going to get the better of me on this one and I can’t wait to dive right in and explore.

I still need to get a trip to Las Vegas sorted because Zak Bagans Haunted Museum has all sorts of true crime memorabilia including Jeffrey Dahmer’s glasses and even a cauldron found at Ed Gein’s property rumoured to have contained all sorts of body parts, guts and gore.

Zak has a whole load of weird and wonderful items within his museum, I’ve written about the place so many times and I still haven’t been but just check out some of the artefacts he has at the Las Vegas museum.

Take me there immediately!
