Stand by Me star Corey Feldman claims Oscars left him out of planned Rob Reiner tribute

Corey Feldman has accused the Academy of leaving him out of its planned tribute for Rob Reiner at the 2026 Oscars.

The In Memoriam segment during Sunday’s ceremony is set to honor the late director onstage by featuring actors who starred in his movies, including When Harry Met Sally stars Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan.

Feldman — who starred in Reiner’s 1986 film Stand By Me with Jerry O’Connell, Will Wheaton, and the late River Phoenix — claimed on social media that he was not invited to join the tribute, but suggested that his co-stars O’Connell and Wheaton were asked to participate.

“I just want to briefly mention this Oscars thing! Yes, it’s true that I was not invited,” Feldman, 54, wrote Friday in all capital letters on X. “I understand many believe it’s due to being outspoken about the abuse I suffered as a child and the campaign to silence me. However, this isn’t about me. It’s not my moment at all. It’s about the tragic loss of our friend Rob Reiner and his memory.”

The former child star continued, “As much I appreciate all support, it’s very sweet of you… but please stop. Please take down any petitions to push for my presence at the awards. They don’t need me there. Will and Jerry got this I’m sure. They will do a fantastic job… I’ll honor Rob my own way.”

The Academy did not immediately return The Independent’s request for comment.

Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead from stab wounds in their Los Angeles home in December 2025. Their son, Nick, has been arrested and charged with their murders. He pleaded not guilty to the charges in February.

Hollywood was left devastated by the loss. Reiner was a prolific filmmaker who directed beloved movies like The Princess Bride, Misery and This Is Spinal Tap.

Feldman said in a statement at the time that he was “deeply in shock” over Reiner’s death, writing in all caps on X, “I just want to add that even though I barely kept in touch with Rob, his influence in my life over the months we spent every single day together was massive and powerful for a pre-teen boy who was looking for family in everyone I met. He was a great man who showed us all love and compassion in a meaningful way, which is how he built the bond and the trust with us four kid actors that pulled the human and emotional performances out of us.”
