Islamabad Airport closed for flights

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad International Airport has been closed for flight operations, with authorities suspending both landings and take-offs, ARY News reported citing sources.

Sources said all incoming and outgoing flights at the Islamabad airport have been halted, while several aircraft have been diverted to alternate airports.

Meanwhile, fighter jets of the Pakistan Air Force were seen flying over the skies of Islamabad and the nearby garrison city of Rawalpindi.

Officials have not yet issued an official statement regarding the reason behind the temporary suspension of flight operations. However, sources said the airspace activity comes amid heightened security measures in the federal capital.

Further details are awaited.
