Apple Martin, the daughter of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, has been cast in Nancy Meyers’s next film, marking her feature acting debut as the director returns to cinema for the first time since 2015.
The 22-year-old joins a cast that also includes Penélope Cruz, Kieran Culkin, Erin Doherty, Jude Law, and Owen Wilson, as well as Tony Hale and Beverly D’Angelo, according to Deadline.
Character and plot details remain under wraps, but the untitled Warner Bros production is reportedly semi-autobiographical for Meyers. It will be a version of Paris Paramount which Meyers was hoping to make at Netflix in 2023.
At that time, Meyers teased the project on social media by posting a quote from Heaven Can Wait director Ernst Lubitsch: “I’ve been to Paris, France and I’ve been to Paris, Paramount and frankly, I prefer Paris, Paramount.”
In an Instagram post, Meyers described the project as being “about a group of people making a film and the magic and mystery of what we do”.

Meyers is writing, directing and producing the film alongside Ilona Herzberg, while Diana Pokorny and Paula Case are serving as executive producers.
This is the first feature for Meyers as director since The Intern, the Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway workplace comedy-drama released in 2015.
The filmmaker, 76, is known for writing the Father of the Bride films and directing classics including The Parent Trap, What Women Want, Something’s Gotta Give, and The Holiday.
Meyers has been teasing the film’s production for the last few weeks, posting a picture of a director’s chair on Instagram with the caption: “So close to starting.”
This will be Martin’s feature film debut after her appearance in an episode of the HBO series Rooster in 2025. She recently graduated from Vanderbilt University with a degree in law, history and society, after spending the last few years building a low-key profile in fashion and student theatre rather than moving directly into Hollywood.
She has appeared in campaigns for GapStudio, Self-Portrait, and Chloé, and earlier this month became the face of Chloé’s pre-fall 2026 campaign, photographed by David Sims.
In a February profile by Vogue, Martin said she had originally planned to become a lawyer because she was in a “rebellious, ‘I don’t wanna be like my parents’ type of phase”.
Martin said the move from Los Angeles to Nashville for university had allowed her to experience a comparatively “normal” student life, and she had become increasingly involved in theatre while at Vanderbilt.
She made her directorial debut with a student musical theatre production at the university.
However, Martin said she didn’t “wanna be a singer”.
“I like musical theatre, but getting onstage by yourself to sing is so terrifying. I love dancing and I love acting. My dream is to act,” she said.
The film is set for release on 25 December 2027.
