A Set With No Sparkle

LEGO Twilight House

Thank you to LEGO for gifting us this set to bring you this honest review today on Back to the Movies.

So after around a 6 house build I now have a completed Culle House LEGO set and did I enjoy the build, absolutely not. Here’s why.

Firstly, when I’m creating LEGO sets it’s usually for films I enjoy and on this occasion, as we were kindly gifted the set to build, Twilight is just not on my radar of films I care about even slightly.

Cullen House 2

The other niggle was that the house in the movies isn’t even the same as this LEGO creation which any Twilight fan would most likely be annoyed with, it seems a whole chunk of the screen-used house has been chopped off in the LEGO figure and what’s with the orange mid-section of the house? It’s just a strange design choice.

The orange piece is also sitting rather loosely on top of the downstairs and the upstairs block is sitting rather loosely on top of the orange section and then two loose roof pieces are just dangling on there without really slotting into place with any conviction, it’s very loose and the second you lift this house it feels like it’s all going to come crashing down within an instant.

Inside the house is superb with intricate details of artwork on the walls, a bathroom and a whole host of furniture and kitchenware that the second you complete the house is obscured from view and good luck getting any characters into the second and bottom floor without ripping up the entire house.

It’s a frustrating build from a play aspect as it’s all but useless apart from a top window that swings open so you can have the characters climbing the tree.

Cullen House Ground Floor

The Cullen House LEGO set is more of a display piece and it doesn’t even come with the full Cullen family Minifigures.

As a build, the instructions are great and were very easy to follow but when it came to the gripes such as the roof and the second floor it didn’t entirely feel well stuck together. Something went wrong with the build here and the price tag certainly feels like it’s on the steep side.

Cullen House Middle Floor

Now this rather negative review isn’t from my hate of Twilight, I actually rather like the look of the house from an architectural standpoint but isn’t the idea of a LEGO set to enjoy it? To play with it and to have your minifigures interact with the environment?

In this case, the first two floors are out of bounds and they’re locked out of the house with nothing but an open window to burgle their way into their own home.

Cullen House Upper Floor

Sadly, the Cullen House LEGO set is a set with no sparkle, it’s not practical, it’s not screen accurate and feels like a cost-cutting exercise in every way shape and form.

The Cullen House LEGO set retails for £190 and judging from what you can see here, do you think it’s worth it?

Don’t care what it costs? Is the Twilight fandom just too strong?
