Ana de Armas as Marilyn Monroe seems like a match made in heaven if the new trailer is anything to go by.
Released today Ana de Armas will feature in the upcoming Marilyn Monroe biopic also starring Xavier Samuel as Charlie Chaplin Jr., Evan Williams as Eddy, and Adrien Brody as Monroe’s third husband Arthur Miller.
Based on the bestselling novel by Joyce Carol Oates, Blonde boldly reimagines the life of one of Hollywood’s most enduring icons, Marilyn Monroe. From her volatile childhood as Norma Jeane, through her rise to stardom and romantic entanglements, Blonde blurs the lines of fact and fiction to explore the widening split between her public and private selves.
Take a look at the trailer below:
Written and directed by Andrew Dominik, the film sees Ana de Armas lead a cast that includes Bobby Cannavale, Adrien Brody, Julianne Nicholson, Xavier Samuel and Evan Williams.
The trailer does a great job at introducing us to the character whilst giving absolutely nothing away regarding the plot or any potential spoilers.
The contrasting black and white imagery with the modern colour palettes is also a nice touch.
If I had one niggle from the trailer is that you can still hear Ana’s original accent during her line delivery which may annoy some folks who are keen on historical accuracy / portrayal.
Blonde arrives on Netflix on September 28th.
