Team Canada sustained its first setback at the 2022 Little League World Series, dropping a 10-0 decision to Mexico Monday.
The loss comes after Canada — represented by the Little Mountain Little Leaguers of Vancouver — beat Japan and Australia in its first two games last week.
The Canadians were undone by a six-run second-inning by Mexico.
A two-run home run by Miguel Padilla in the third inning extended the lead to 8-0, and Mexico tacked on two more runs in the fifth to earn the mercy rule.
Canada had no hits and three errors in the game.
The tournament is double-elimination and Canada will look to keep its championship hopes alive against Pabao Little League, a team from Curacao, on Tuesday.
