Paramount+ with Showtime has today released the first official trailer for Dexter: Original Sin which is the upcoming prequel for the Showtime series Dexter.
The series is set in the 1990s and will be released on December 13th via streaming and on-demand for all Paramount+ subscribers.
Dexter: Original Sin will be a ten-episode series and will focus on the younger life of Michael C Hall’s infamous character Dexter who went onto become a police blood splatter analyst who moonlighted as a serial killer. The thing with Dexter though, however, is that he only kills criminals. A blood-splatter Batman if you will, with the addition of killing, which Batman doesn’t… okay maybe that was a bad example!
The synopsis for Dexter: Original Sin reads as follows:
Set in 1991 Miami, Dexter: Original Sin follows Dexter (Gibson) as he transitions from student to avenging serial killer. When his bloodthirsty urges can’t be ignored any longer, Dexter must learn to channel his inner darkness. With the guidance of his father, Harry (Christian Slater), he adopts a Code designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to be eliminated from society without getting on law enforcement’s radar. This is a particular challenge for young Dexter as he begins a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.
Michael C Hall returns to the series as the show’s narrator and the recurring monologue within Dexter’s head.
Patrick Gibson (“Shadow and Bone”) will be playing the role of a young Dexter Morgan and the series is set 15 years earlier when Dexter is 20 years old as a student.
Whilst Dexter’s serial killer urges will never go away, his father Henry (played by Christian Slater in the series) devised a code so that Dexter not only gets caught but to help him track and find those who deserve to die.
Dexter then starts a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department. Within the series, we will see younger characters of those famed from the series such as Debra (Dexter’s sister) played by Molly Brown, James Martinez as Angel Batista, Christina Milian as Maria LaGuerta and Alex Shimizu as Vince Masuka.
Also onboard are Patrick Dempsey and Sarah Michelle Gellar as the Miami Homicide Department Captain and CSI chief.
But that’s not all for Dexter as Dexter: Ressurection will be released at a later date with Michael C Hall returning once again as a grown Dexter and the series will take place after the most recent events of New Blood.
For Dexter fans, the news just keeps getting better and better!
