Sam Mitchell came up with a plan to try and earn Phil’s trust back after it was revealed she’d been in cahoots with Jonah Tyler.

This led her to kidnap the former Prince Albert manager to try and avenge Ben, whom he raped after a drunken night out.

Lewis was taken at gunpoint, tied up and gagged before being thrown into the boot of Sam’s car.

But after narrowly escaping death, he was met with his victim, Ben, played by Max Bowden.

The Walford troublemaker, who is no stranger to murder surprisingly decided to let Lewis go after a tense exchange.

BBC One viewers may be disappointed to learn these could have been Aidan O’Callaghan’s last scenes in the show.

The actor confirmed this while also hinting his character could be back as the door “hasn’t been fully shut.”

“In terms of the story, it’s a massive emotional week”, he said.

“As far as I know, this is Lewis’s last episode. But the door for me hasn’t been fully shut. I will just have to wait and see if my phone rings.”

“On one side, it has been so rewarding as you get to play so much drama and this really intense arc, but on the other hand it is a really hard arc to carry through in terms of redemption. It is such a dark, intense story.”

Speaking to Digital Spy, Aidan has said that fans will have to “wait and see” if his on-screen alter ego returns to Albert Square – and if Ben’s case goes to court.

“If it went to court, that would be fascinating”, he said.

“I know from speaking with Survivors Manchester that court cases can be tricky and complicated, having the evidence brought up.”

“It would be fascinating but we will have to wait and see.”

Ben has progressively spoken out about his rape, first telling his mother Kathy about the event who, in turn, told Phil what had happened.

In more recent scenes, Ben’s estranged husband Callum Highway was finally made aware that Ben was raped by Lewis.
