Sony has today released the first Ghostbusters Frozen Empire trailer as New York City faces an icy situation.
In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the Spengler family returns to where it all started – the iconic New York City firehouse – to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level.
But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.
The trailer has today dropped showcasing a new evil force that takes over New York City that threatens an ice age that won’t just affect the city of New York, but the entire world.
Our brave Ghostbusters (now much younger and with the help of their older tutors) must now go and figure out this ghostly problem after solving the last one in the wake of Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
Fans will expect to see the return of Paul Rudd as Gary Grooberson, Carrie Coon as Callie Spengler, Finn Wolfhard as Trevor Spengler and McKenna Grace as Phone Spengler as the iconic jumpsuits are donned once more.
Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd) and Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson) will be back on the big screen although this now feels like their impact in Afterlife was all for nothing.
That emotional ending was a great send off and tribute so to have them back again, once again in true Hollywood fashion, feels like milking it!
Sigourney Weaver will not be included in this particular movie, she has the right idea as she told Collider back in May:
“No, I mean, I wasn’t asked to be in this Ghostbusters, and I think, you know, a little of us goes a long way.”
After Ghostbusters: Afterlife went on to generate $205 million at the box office, exceeding its budget of $75 million, it was a no brainer that another one would be in the works as good storytelling goes out of the window when money is there to be made.
Am I salty about ANOTHER Ghostbusters movie?
Of course I am! But I’m sure it’ll be just as successful as the last one that not many people wanted or asked for in anyway shape or form.
Whilst the trailer does look rather interesting it does feel like we’ve seen it all before with many of these big blockbuster movies and after many many years of running this website everything that I’m covering on the big screen lately does feel very copy and paste.
