Save the date, Silent Londoners, The Scottish silent film festival with the warmest welcome in the world is back in 2023.

The Hippodrome Silent Film Festival at Scotland’s oldest purpose-built cinema, the Hippodrome in Bo’ness, will take place Wednesday 22 to Sunday 26 March 2023. The full programme and tickets will be released on Tuesday 7 February. Not too long to wait.

But there’s more news. A development many attendees have long been asking for – a festival pass!

HippFest has also announced a brand new Festival Pass for its 13th edition, that will give access to all Festival events at the Hippodrome and online. Pass-holders will also receive an exclusive gift upon arriving at the Festival, and in-venue offers to help make the Hippodrome ‘home’ for their visit. There is limited availability for the HippFest Festival Pass, so booking early is recommended.

The HippFest Festival Pass will be available to purchase by phone via the Falkirk Council Box Office from noon on Mon 19 December Phone: 01324 506850  Mon-Fri 9am-6pm  |  Sat 9.45am-3pm.

The cost of festival passes is as follows:

Not only that, but Hippfest has just launched a podcast, Hippcast! This will hello you start the buildup to March 2023 nice and early. The first episode is live now and it is a festival primer, featuring many of the event’s musicians and guests. Listen here.

We love Hippfest here at Silent London and although we haven’t been let in on any secrets yet we are sure this will be another triumph. We are promised, and I quote: “Glamorous line-up of stars from cinema’s silent era”; “Live musical accompaniment from international musicians”; “Gala events, exhibition, workshops, family activities plus in-person and online discussions.”
