A whole host of iconic horror props and costumes are up for grabs at the latest Prop Store auction.
This year brings some seminal artefacts from the world of horror as for the first time ever a screen-matched hero hockey mask from Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives is up for grabs from the collection of Mario Kirner. The piece has an estimate of £40,000 – £60,000 but this is a Prop Store auction so you can expect every item to sell for miles above the estimated price as is the same every year.
Other items include a Pinhead lifecast with original prosthetics from Hellraiser (1987) and one of Robert Englund’s knife gloves from Freddy Vs Jason.
Fancy a Michael Myers mask? Well, there’s one up for grabs from Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998) with an estimate of £20,000 – £30,000.
I do enjoy Prop Store auctions and seeing what these pieces go for but sadly over the years the items just sell for ridiculous amounts of money that normal everyday collectors just cannot afford.
There are other prop websites out there that sell iconic pieces for much more affordable amounts but these auctions take the items out of everyday collector’s hands and into museums or other wealthy individuals that may not respect them or enjoy them as much as the average collector. It’s a real shame.

The press release names some ‘affordable’ items that come up at the auction including a Camp Crystal Lake T-Shirt from Freddy Vs Jason selling for £400-£600 but you can guarantee that it’ll sell for triple the price at auction when it’s not even worth that.
I wish that Prop Store and other auction houses would sell just a small handful of horror props and costumes for their actual estimated prices separately on their website and not at auction, that way everyday collectors can have a chance to own a little something from the films they love without paying over the odds for something.
