It’s back again and this year it has a line-up worthy of watching as we bring you our I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here 2022 review.
I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! returns which can mean only one thing… the time has come for a brand new cast of celebrities to battle it out in TV’s toughest entertainment challenge.
The celebrities heading into the jungle for the new series are:
Pop Icon – Boy George
Corrie Star – Sue Cleaver
Hollyoaks Actor – Owen Warner
TV Presenter & Property Expert – Scarlette Douglas
Ex England Rugby Player – Mike Tindall MBE
TV Presenter & Journalist – Charlene White
Radio Legend – Chris Moyles
England Lioness – Jill Scott MBE
Comedian – Babatúndé Aléshé
TV Personality – Olivia Attwood
With two more celebrities on the way with Conservative MP Matt Hancock set to join the line-up along with a mystery celeb.
That line-up is very impressive considering previous line-ups have been a little weak to say the least at times with only one ‘celeb’ of note gracing the show surrounded by reality stars or stars that go on to do bigger and better things once the show finishes airing.
From the first episode, you can instantly tell who the characters are going to be around camp with Chris Moyes, Babatúndé Aléshé and Boy George providing the comedy. I instantly gravitated towards all three of them the second their interviews began. They all seemed very down to earth but at the same time, you can see that once the tide is turned, small meals and tiredness kick in Chris and Boy George especially could definitely get very vocal.
Owen Warner seems to be the weakest link in this particular line-up and already feels like he may have jumped onto Love Island rather than I’m A Celebrity with a bit of an attitude that is sure to wind folks up in the jungle. I couldn’t gravitate towards him at all and I can’t imagine him winning this whatsoever just from watching one episode of the show.
Starting with the high-rise tower in Australia newsreader Charlene White, Euros-winning footballer Jill Scott and comedian Babatunde Aleshe had to walk over the edge of the tower to win tokens for a meal in their camp. We’ve seen this all before but it takes nothing away from the sheer intensity of the challenge.
Olivia and Chris had to jump out of a plane and land on a beach before being greeted by Boy George and Scarlett just rocked up on a boat with absolutely no challenge or fear facing involved. It was a very diva entrance and one wonders why they weren’t in the plane alongside Chris and Olivia.
Even Owen, Sue and Mike had to do a grim challenge to earn their place so I found this a little questionable to say the least.
The camp looks as good as ever and within seconds Jill had already fallen on the floor after trying out a hammock for the first time. I’d do the same thing, how on earth anyone can sleep in them is beyond me!
It’s unclear as to when Matt Hancock and the other mystery celebrity will be joining the camp but after being paid £400,000 for the pleasure I was expecting Matt Hancock to be in the starting line-up to at least somewhat earn his ridiculous pay packet.
One can imagine the British public voting him for almost every single trial and I’m absolutely ready for it, let’s just hope he is.
The line-up looks rather good this year and certainly the strongest it has been for a while (bar one or two names) and I’m looking forward to seeing how this series develops.
