EXCLUSIVE: Isabel Klee is a popular content creator who has around 2M social media followers lapping up her canine content.
Her debut memoir Dogs, Boys and Other Things I’ve Cried About is being published later this month by HarperCollins’ William Morrow.
She is now turning that book into a television series after UCP landed the rights.
The Universal Studio Group division is currently searching for a writer to develop the book into a series before taking it out to streamers and networks. Klee will exec produce.
The book sees Klee weave together the stories of her foster dogs – including her first true love Simon, a puppy saved from the meat trade – with tales of complicated relationships, hard decisions and great loves in New York City, all leading to a happy ending not only for the rescue pups, but for Klee herself.
The series will follow a twentysomething woman’s search for true love in New York City and the dogs who helped her find it.
Dogs, Boys and Other Things I’ve Cried About is published on April 28.
Klee is a major support of fostering dogs and has raised over $750,000 for animal non-profits in the last year. She also appeared in Animal Planet’s annual Puppy Bowl. She is repped by CLR MGMT, UTA and Janklow & Nesbit.
UCP is behind series such as Peacock’s Ted and The ‘Burbs as well as upcoming series such as Apple’s Cape Fear remake and Peacock’s The Five-Star Weekend.
