Josh Dugan, fight, brawl, sent off, video, bush footy, Cronulla Sharks contract, retirement

Former NRL bad boy Josh Dugan found himself at the centre of fresh drama when he was sent off for throwing a punch in a bush footy match at the weekend.

The controversial former Raider, Dragon and Shark was playing for the Orange United Warriors against the Trundle Boomers when he got in a scuffle at the end of the match, leading to him and an opponent being marched from the field.

The Trundle player was irked by Dugan running the ball dead on the final play.

Dugan’s Warriors won the match 26-16 and are now awaiting a preliminary final, but the 32-year-old could be set to receive a suspension.

Dugan was on a contract worth about $850,000 at the Sharks in 2021, but he retired from the NRL and this year took up a deal with Orange United.

He retired from the NRL after the Sharks terminated his contract due to a series of breaches of the league’s COVID-19 protocols.

Dugan played 215 NRL games between 2009 and 2021, as well as 12 Origin matches with the New South Wales Blues and five for Australia.
