Miami Dolphins starting CB Byron Jones moved to reserve/PUP list, out at least four games

The Miami Dolphins on Tuesday moved starting cornerback Byron Jones to the reserve/physically unable to perform list, meaning he will miss at least the first four games of the 2022 season.

Jones started training camp on the active/PUP list and hasn’t practiced since undergoing surgery on his left Achilles tendon in March.

Jones signed a five-year, $82.5 million contract with the Dolphins as a free agent in 2020 and has started 30 games in two seasons, during which he has two interceptions.

In other roster moves Tuesday, the Dolphins waived wide receivers Lynn Bowden Jr. and Preston Williams as they made necessary roster moves to reach the 53-player limit by Tuesday’s 4 p.m. ET deadline.

Bowden was a third-round draft selection of the Raiders in 2020 and was traded to the Dolphins later that year. He had 28 receptions for 211 yards as a rookie with Miami but missed all of last season with a hamstring injury.

Williams had 56 receptions for 787 yards and seven touchdowns with the Dolphins since signing with the team as an undrafted free agent in 2019.
