New Cars Land Coming to Magic Kingdom

Piston Peak National Park

Piston Peak National Park is coming to Walt Disney World as Magic Kingdom is set to remove the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer’s island to make way for this brand new land featuring two brand new attractions.

Buckle up for the wildest race in the wheelderness (I see what they did there) as this Cars land will fit in beautifully in front of Big Thunder Mountain at Magic Kingdom and recent concept art released shows it to be a vibrant landscape of a canyon backdrop with water flowing throughout a picturesque landscape.

Towering trees, snowcapped mountains, waterfalls, roaring rivers and geysers Piston Peak National Park looks to be retaining quite a lot of the natural beauty that Disney fans were in uproar of being removed when plans for this land were announced.

The vast landscape of the Liberty Belle boat sailing through the river will be gone forever (a real nostalgic ride and loss for diehard Disney fans) but it seems as though the area will still upkeep that natural beauty with some iconic sights.

Within the land there will be a visitor lodge, Range HQ, trails all set within the Disney Cars universe and a lot more.

Imagineers are using a style of architecture called “Parkitecture,” which was developed by the National Park Service to create structures that harmonize with the natural environment.

I’m not entirely sure what Parkitecture is but as long as it looks good when it opens, I couldn’t care less.

Trees will provide a natural barrier between the off-road rally and other parts of the Frontierland and Liberty Square areas of Magic Kingdom

I’m really excited to see what Cars ride they’re adding as it looks very different from the Cars ride that currently resides at other Disney parks, this one very much looks like an off-road adventure as shown in the initial concept art.

Stay tuned for more information as this exciting new project will be starting construction much sooner than we think with Tom Sawyer’s island recently being announced to be closing for good this July, work will very quickly get underway to bring this new land to life!

We paid a visit to Tom Sawyer’s island (located within the middle of the Rivers of America) for the first, and last, time during a recent visit. You can check out that VLOG below and well, you can see why they’re removing it, there’s not a great deal to do there and it wasn’t exactly a popular visitor attraction despite it’s breathtaking views of the park and unique exploration themes.
