New Superman Trailer Gets Slated by Fans

Oh to not want to be in the shoes of any comic book movie director or studio owner’s shoes as any decision you make is instantly scrutinised by millions of diehard nerds (sorry, fans) from around the world and this week is no different when it comes to the new Superman trailer.

superman 2025

The brand new fresh trailer for the new Superman film has once again caused debate online. The first trailer was just angry nerds (sorry, fans, I keep mistyping) crying over the fact that Henry Cavill wasn’t Superman anymore.

Then it went quickly from the casting to the lighting because DC fans haven’t opened their eyes for about two decades and finally a well-lit DC movie has been released, shock horror and now today one small flying sequence has gained criticism for apparent uses of CG.

We know how bad CG can be at times, you only need to look at what happened when a CG team removed Henry Cavill’s moustache in Justice League but on this occasion, it turns out it’s not CG at all according to director James Gunn.

Superman 2025 CG or Not

Here’s the initial comment that James replied to:

“Great camera angle of Superman flying!! Except there’s something with his face that looks a little off. I know there’s plenty of time to refine the CG.”

A slightly back-handed compliment there but James swiftly responded on Threads with the following

“There is absolutely zero CG in his face. People’s faces can look different when you put a wide-angle lens up close. The background plate in Svalbard is 100% real as is David.”

Many took to social media to criticise the flying pose as ‘inaccurate’, ‘cheesy’ or ‘goofy’ and keep in mind the entire duration of the trailer is 30 seconds which means fans are arguing over a clip that lasts a mere 1-2 seconds (if that).

Cmon guys… do better.

For me, I feel as though it could very well be the best Superman that we’ve seen for a long time and I hold out hope that this movie shuts every single one of those nerds (I mean fans) up and they eat their words come release date.

Fandom will forever be something that confuses me, While I love movies and will always love movies there’s just a line I feel shouldn’t be crossed but hey, whatever keeps you occupied!
