NRL 2022 St George Illawarra Dragons

St George Illawarra forward Francis Molo is facing 4-5 weeks on the sideline for his nasty hit on Titans winger Patrick Herbert.

The Dragons were leading by just four points with the game in the balance, when Molo was sent off for the coathanger on Herbert in the 63rd minute.

Herbert took no further part in the match. The match review committee slapped Molo with a grade three careless high tackle charge.

Molo’s prior offences mean he will spend four matches on the sidelines if he accepts an early plea, or five if he fights the charge and loses.

Molo appeared to be immediately remorseful for the hit. He immediately extended his arm to apologise to Herbert.

“Gee, that’s a bad one,” legendary hardman Steve Roach said on Fox League commentary.

“Honestly, the way the game is now, that’s a send off, he’s hit him flush on the chin.”

Despite being a man down, the Dragons went on to score another three tries to defeat a hopeless Titans outfit 46-26.
