Over 1000 rare and vintage movie posters are to be sold at a Prop Store auction for the first time in the United States.
Rare posters from film, music and travel will go under the hammer at the auction. Online bidding is available on all items until May 17th and 18th, 2023.
Highlights of the auction include a US one sheet on linen for the best-picture winning Cimarron (RKO, 1931) estimated to fetch between $50,000 – $100,000 at auction. Believed to be one of only 4 remaining in the world. A must-have for any Western fans but with it being a Prop Store auction the lots usually fetch far higher than the estimates that are given!
Also one of two known copies in the world is a rare and unrestored folded Country of Origin pre-war German poster for Fritz Lang’s M (Nero Film -AG 1931). This particular item is estimated to fetch between $40,000-$80,000.
A first post-war release French Grande poster for The Maltese Falcon is also up for grabs with an estimated price of $20,000-$40,000.
And for a more modern film there is one of the rarest posters from the release of Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi, six sheet on linen US style with a price estimate of $10,000 – $20,000.
