Taylor Swift fans are down bad for the singer to make her directorial debut.
As chatter around the Grammy winner taking on a film project has continued, Swifties have been wondering if Taylor could release a movie or a documentary this year. And when the Vancouver International Film Festival played off her Life of a Showgirl imagery by posting their not-yet-announced lineup behind a sparkling orange lock—along with the caption, “…Ready for it? The #VIFF2025 full festival lineup will be revealed on August 27″—fans thought it meant Taylor’s movie might be coming sooner rather than later.
Also fueling the rumors? An Aug. 14 post from Taylor Nation featuring the orange lock with the caption, “We can’t find the key! Lost it in Vancouver.”
However, E! News has learned Taylor will not be in attendance at the Canadian film festival.
VIFF also shut down the theories that Taylor will be showcasing a project there.
In the comments, the festival cleared up the rumors by adding, “Please note! (From the VIFF Socials team, all swifties!) There will be no Taylor Swift documentary debuting at VIFF. Earlier today we saw the viral tiktok video with the prediction and were honoured to even be in the easter egg discussion. However, we’re so excited to show you what’s coming to #VIFF2025. Hope there’s no ‘Bad Blood.'”
