The man, the myth, the legend. The official Robert Englund documentary is coming soon and a trailer has been released to celebrate the fact!
A man who I have been honoured to have worked with and a man who completely changed my life as his book is the main reason why Back to the Movies exists today. Robert Englund inspired me from the second his story lept from the pages of his Hollywood Monster autobiography.
By the winds of fate, a movie he was starring in called Fear Clinic was crowdfunding on Indiegogo. I offered my marketing services to help the film get financed and the next minute I was invited out to Los Angeles to work on the movie alongside Robert, producer Aaron Drane and director Robert Hall (Rest in Peace).
I’ve met Robert in hotels in London for interviews and press work, I’ve met Robert Englund dressed up in Freddy Krueger makeup backstage at comic cons and I’ve even carried Robert Englund back to his home after a night out with him and his wife. That story in itself would have been great for the documentary to be fair!
Not only that but I’ve taken a crap in Robert Englund’s toilet for crying out loud! I mean, that’s a claim to fame in its own right and not many people can say that Robert Englund made them a sandwich now, can they?
Robert’s home is stunningly beautiful and he even has a room absolutely dedicated to all things Freddy, I really hope they show it in the documentary it’s absolutely phenomenal!
This documentary also has a special place in my heart as I was meant to be in it but sadly with the pandemic and schedules, it wasn’t meant to be. I did however get none other than Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor onboard the project as a producer and he even features in the doc so I’m glad I have a small little wink and nod in a documentary about a man I adore and respect.

Back When I Was Just Skin and Bones

This unique and intimate portrait captures the man behind the glove and features interviews with Englund and his wife Nancy, Lin Shaye, Eli Roth, Tony Todd, Heather Langenkamp and more.

I absolutely cannot wait to see what the team have put together! Until then please check out the official trailer below:
