The Queen Mary horror movie trailer has set sail and is beginning to swim the waves of the internet as members of the public will glimpse upon its horrors ahead of an official digital platform release on August 28th.
When photographers Erin (Alice Eve) and Patrick (Joel Fry) are brought aboard the ship with their young son Lukas (Lenny Rush), they unleash a series of events that entwines their family with the ship’s dark past.
As the terror unfolds around them they begin to realise there is more to this sumptuous ocean liner than meets the eye: its remarkable legacy masking violent secrets.
As Erin and Patrick uncover the haunted layers that the vast ship contains, it becomes increasingly clear that there is only one way out for them – to go even deeper.
Vertigo Releasing is delighted to announce that The Queen Mary will be officially released on digital platforms on the 28th August 2023. Written and directed by Gary Shore (Dracula Untold) and from the producers of The Woman in Black, this is an ornate and deeply disturbing tale of the haunted Queen Mary ocean liner.
A luxury ocean-liner graced by generations of the rich and famous, HMS Queen Mary is now celebrated – and feared – as “One of the World’s Most Haunted Places” (Time Magazine).
Like Titanic and Ghost Ship had a baby The Queen Mary trailer gives us a gripping insight into the world’s most haunted ship with some great use of practical and special effects just to whet our appetite ahead of its release.
I really rather enjoyed the phone effect with the fingers oozing out of the digital screen before grabbing Alice Eve’s character around the neck. It’s a simple but effective jump scare moment and really adds to the gothic nature of the trailer with a modern supernatural twist.
It had a Nightmare on Elm Street vibe to it but in modern times and there’s a strong social commentary there about our phones luring us in and holding (quite physically in this case) our attention.
With a sturdy cast line-up and some wonderful talent behind the scenes including director Gary Shore who helmed Dracula Untold, Brett Tomberlin onboard as producer who also worked on The Woman in Black and Winchester starring Helen Mirren.
Director of Photography Isaac Bauman is to thank for the incredible visual aesthetic and lighting, he also worked on Channel Zero and writers Gary Shore and Tom Vaughan are no strangers to penning a horror tale or two with both Dracula Untold and Winchester both under their retrospective belts.
