There have been many scare events up and down the country here in the UK that send shivers down our spine each and every year but we as humans always crave the familiar and the iconic and brand new for 2025 event Halloween Haunt Fest has a very special IP-themed scare maze for us to experience.
A Texas Chainsaw Massacre scare maze is coming to Hertfordshire Showground.
That’s right, for the first time in the UK Leatherface will be gracing the scare scene at this exciting and brand new haunt.
Experience the film like never before as this official scare maze is opening
Now, getting IPs to the UK is hard enough for big theme parks to navigate let alone a brand new independent scare attraction, there’s usually a heavy cost involved or logistics that make having the IP very tricky such as having your maze-approved / vetted to make sure it’s true to the IP advertised etc.
What Halloween Haunt Fest have done here before we’ve even seen and experienced the maze itself is quite special so hats off to all of those involved in getting this over the line.
Riffing on Halloween Horror Nights with their event name (with a very similar font too might I add) one can only hope they put the same level of effort and detail into this Leatherface-themed experience.
Naturally, I don’t expect the maze to be on Halloween Horror Night levels of theming and immersion but staying true to the brand and creating a wonderful Texas-themed walkthrough experience of the Sawyer house would be great for any fans of the franchise to come down and enjoy it!
The Designers at Halloween Haunt Fest are working closely with the filmmakers to bring to life this unique UK first attraction and they’re not finished yet, there are still two more mazes to be announced on their website with their other maze being an original idea.
In addition to four mazes, there will be live entertainment including a DJ, fire performer, juggler and even a horror-themed funfair!
The Rusty Cauldron Tavern will also be serving horror-themed drinks to all customers and for that extra special VIP treatment, there will be a special lounge serving drinks throughout the night.
Just reading the website makes me very excited indeed because it certainly at face value looks on a similar scale to Tulleys with fewer mazes and Tulleys is one of my favourite go-to horror events every single year.
If Halloween Haunt Fest is even a fraction of what Tulleys delivers then we’re in for a very exciting debut horror event here in the UK.
CEO Nick Doherty had the following to say about the experience:
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is one of the most terrifying films of all time, and we are thrilled to bring its sheer horror to Halloween Haunt Fest.
Our team has worked tirelessly with the film makers & franchise owners to recreate the fear, suspense, and chaos of Leatherface’s world, and we can’t wait for guests to experience it firsthand.
Having something like this being run independently is certainly perking up the ears of the long-standing horror attractions in the UK as we just haven’t seen a Leatherface maze here in the UK, the only Texas Chainsaw licensed maze that I can recall is utilised at Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights so to have it here in the UK on the independent circuit is quite the achievement.
Demand is of course going to be high for this first-of-its-kind event and I absolutely cannot wait to explore the Sawyer family home and hear those glorious chainsaw echo sounds bellowing out from this scare maze.
Kind of crossing my fingers that they’ll be serving brisket similar to what they serve out in the old TCM Gas Station in Texas, nom nom nom!
Keep an eye on this page for more information as I have a sneaky feeling another IP maze may be in the works from this attraction but all will be revealed in due course.
