Sitting in Motiongate theme park in Dubai lies John Wick: Open Contract and with the upcoming release of John Wick 4 in the cinemas the theme park kindly gave us a private tour of the John Wick rollercoaster ride themed around the Continental hotel.
Opening in 2022 the John Wick: Open Contract ride is a 4D free spinning roller coaster which is 10 storeys high and is set over a 310-metre track. Guests will experience forces of up to 2.8Gs but even though I haven’t experienced the ride (it was down for maintenance during our tour) I feel as though the queue line is the main star of the show.
In a country where there is a no-expenses-spared attitude to just about everything the beautiful John Wick ride was themed around the main Continental hotel and they actually built the full-scale hotel!
Tall and foreboding one step inside this hotel had my jaw on the floor, it looked absolutely stunning as you enter the lobby and before the ride even starts you have a choice to make. Help John Wick or Hunt John Wick.
Down the Hunt John Wick queue line you’re met with a bounty board and various documents that help you to research your target, you’re then met with the iconic museum fight scene from Chapter 3: Parabellum before you enter the main station to board the ride.
Down the Help John Wick queue line you have a more relaxed array of rooms to walk through including getting your suit tailored and preparing your weapons. There’s an air of class and elegance to it and it’s very relaxed in nature as opposed to the Hunt John Wick queue line which is very full-on and direct to the task at hand.
It is completely your decision if you wish to help or hunt John Wick. With sound effects simulating gunfights around guests, you’re in the heart of the action.
The level of detail and the inclusion of physical props inside the attraction were so impressive. Usually, attractions are finding the cheapest way of delivering an immersive experience here in the UK. In every park I’ve been to in the UAE they’ll go as far as building full-scale movie sets to make sure their experiences are the best they possibly can be.
You can’t help but look upon the Continental building and be amazed at the design of the show building. It truly is astounding and my inner nerd wanted to stay in there all day, have some lunch, and try on a suit and it was just short of expectations when Keanu Reeves sadly wasn’t inside waiting for me to help or hunt him.
If anything, this visit to John Wick: Open Contract in Motiongate theme park in Dubai got me even more excited to see the movie in cinemas later this month.
John Wick Chapter 4 is directed by Chad Stahelski and will see Keanu Reeves return as our beloved assassin who just can’t catch a break.
The synopsis reads as follows:
With the price on his head ever increasing, legendary hitman John Wick takes his fight against the High Table global as he seeks out the most powerful players in the underworld, from New York to Paris to Japan to Berlin.
The rest of the cast includes Donnie Yen, Bill Skarsgård, Laurence Fishburne, Hiroyuki Sanada, Shamier Anderson, Lance Reddick, Rina Sawayama, Scott Adkins, Clancy Brown, Natalia Tena, Marko Zaror, and Ian McShane.
The movie was delayed due to the pandemic but is now scheduled to be released in the UK on March 24, 2023.
