Warner Bros Movie World in Australia is set to open a Wizard of Oz theme park land complete with a yellow brick road in what comes at the most perfect time given the recent theatrical release of Wicked.

Guests will be introduced to the Wizard of Oz precinct via the Emerald City building and the land will consist of two roller coasters including one duelling family coaster along with various entertainment spaces for this exciting and magical new land.

The area will consist of The Wizard of Oz plaza which features an enchanging space for pre-dinner drinks or a cocktail reception. This space can accommodate up to 300 guests and includes vibrant sets and a stage for unforgettable moments and celebrations.

If that wasn’t enough The Wizard’s Chamber will provide a sophisticated cocktail reception along with a sit-down dinner. This space can accommodate up to 140 guests (dining) or 250 guests (drinks and canapés). Enchanting and mesmerizing in equal measure as Warner Bros. Movie World embraces all things Oz.

This world’s first Wizard of Oz theme park land is packed full of winks and nods to the 1939 film and promises to allow fans to step into Oz like no fan has done before.

Wizard of Oz Theme Park Roller Coasters

Both roller coasters in the area will be manufactured by Vekoma with one being a duel track racing coaster and the second being a suspended coaster. Let’s dive into each of the rides along with a first glimpse of them as shown on the Village Roadshow / Movie Park World Australia website.

Peter van Roden senior vice president of global themed entertainment at Warner Bros. Discovery back in 2022 said:

A first of its kind, the Wizard of Oz land will extend the storytelling and bring of one of the most iconic and beloved films to life in an amazing way.

We are over the moon (or should we say rainbow) to be bringing Oz to guests of Movie World in 2024.

The land was originally announced to be opening this December but no new update has been made available from what we can find online with the website still saying ‘Coming Soon’ in regards to this fun new development.

We’ll be sure to update this page accordingly as and when confirmed details for the opening of this new land become available.

Are you excited about walking down the yellow brick road into this world’s first Wizard of Oz theme park?

With all of the effort and promotion that Universal Studios Florida has put into the latest Wicked movie, including THIS pop-up experience that recently opened, something tells me there may be another Wizard of Oz / Wicked-themed land coming to another theme park in the next few years!

Keep an eye on WB Movie World Australia’s social media for all future updates regarding this new land.
