A sign spotted on site (posted on ThemeParkX) officially confirms that the Phase 2 expansion of Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi is officially underway as the park is in the process of building a Harry Potter-themed expansion to Warner Bros World Yas Island.
Warner Bros World Yas Island is one of the most incredible indoor theme parks I’ve ever visited and to hear about this expansion finally going ahead after it was announced back in 2o23.
There certainly was no delay though that’s for sure as Miral who bring all of these wonderful projects to life on Yas Island have certainly been busy with the addition of the world’s first indoor SeaWorld Park which is arguably the best aquarium in the world and the recently announced Disney theme park coming to Abu Dhabi.
Not only that but more world-record breaking roller coasters are coming to Ferrari World on the Island and it looks as though at least one more roller coaster will be coming to the indoor Harry Potter themed expansion planned for Warner Bros World Yas Island.
Although cost hasn’t been confirmed it looks to be in the ballpark of a $545m-$816m expansion if online publishers are to be believed and the expansion will add a whopping 40,000 square metres onto the existing theme park.
No details about the Harry Potter land has been revealed although Intamin are rumoured to be a manufacturer linked to the project with at least one potential roller coaster coming to the indoor Harry Potter expansion along with potentially two other rides but this is just very early speculation and rumour.
This project will be the world’s sixth Harry-Potter-themed park with Florida, California, Beijing, Osaka and Leavesden in the UK being the only other Harry Potter themed all-round attractions.
It’ll be incredible to see because the theming level and detail that is featured within Warner Bros World Yas Island really has to be seen to be believed and if there is any company that you want behind this project, it’s Miral.
I’m so very excited about the future of this project and I cannot wait to see more official announcements from Miral themselves as this project moves forward.
At the moment of writing there are no official opening dates announced but with how quickly things move over in the UAE I would hazard a guess at a 2027 opening.
Bring it on!
